PROBLEM
Design changes have been made to certain camshafts and lifter levers for C175 engines. These changes resolve a potential failure mode of the lifter lever skidding on the camshaft lobe. |

Refer to the attached Rework Procedure. |
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock. |
PARTS DISPOSITION
***** NACD ***** Hold all camshafts and lifter levers for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issue to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. ***** EAME, LACD, and APD ***** Hold all camshafts and lifter levers for a Parts Return Request (PRR). Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. If a Part Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 60 days through the Send-It-Back Process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin. |
CAMSHAFT ACTIONS Inspect all of the following new camshaft part numbers in dealer inventory: 274-7726, 274-7728, 388-8844, 388-8842. Remove all camshafts from dealer part stock if the traceability number is less than or equal to 8567762. Refer to Image1.1.1 for the location of the traceability number. |

Inspect all of the following remanufactured camshaft part numbers in dealer inventory: 10R-9050, 10R-9052, 20R-1760, 20R-1759. Remove all camshafts from dealer part stock if the following part numbers are stamped on the camshaft (274-7727, 274-7728, 388-8843, 388-8842) AND if the traceability number is less than or equal to 8567762. Refer to Image1.1.1 for the location of the part number and traceability number. |
LIFTER LEVER ACTIONS Remove all stock of 281-9370 lifter levers in dealer stock. Inspect all stock of 20R-0456 lifter levers in dealer inventory. If no "486-3590" part number is stamped above the bronze pin (inspect both sides of the lifter lever), remove them from dealer inventory. Any lifter lever with a 486-3590 stamped onto the machine surface above the lifter pin is acceptable and should not be removed from inventory. Disregard any part number that is cast into the lifter. Refer to Image 1.3.1 for an example of a lifter lever that should NOT be removed from inventory. |
