Illustration 1.
Mount the Radial Bearing (1) to Side (B) of the Thrust Bearing (2). Place the Groove (C) of the Thrust Bearing (2) away from the Radial Bearing (1).

During reassembly of any C Series Transmission, always place the radial bearing (1) to Side B of the thrust bearing (2). Groove (C) on the thrust bearing (2) faces away from the radial bearing (1). See Illustration 1. Detail A shows the cross-sectional view of the two bearings.

Install the 123-8913 Radial Bearing (1) to Side B of the 172-5317 Thrust Bearing (2).

Install the 150-3757 Radial Bearing (1) to Side B of the 172-6743 Thrust Bearing (2).
