Usage:
24H (7KK) Motor Graders
Description of Change: Improved cover assemblies and new washers are used in the weather insulation group of 24H Motor Graders. The improved cover assemblies are slotted to allow adjustment of the cover assembly. Adjusting the cover assembly provides the clearance necessary between the cover assemblies and the linkage rods for proper linkage operation. The new washers ensure the screws secure the cover assemblies to the floor.
Adaptable To: The improved 117-1975 Left Hand Cover Assembly and the improved 117-1972 Right Hand Cover Assembly are direct replacements for the former 117-1975 Left Hand Cover Assembly and the former 117-1972 Right Hand Cover Assembly. Use six new 101-2867 Washers to secure the improved cover assemblies. The improved 117-1975 Left Hand Cover Assembly, 117-1972 Right Hand Cover Assembly and new 101-2867 Washers are effective with 24H (7KK52, 54, 56, 58-Up) Motor Graders and are adaptable to all earlier machine by using the following procedure.
Adaptation Procedure
Illustration 1.
1. Remove nine 112-9164 Boots (1) from 117-1972 Cover Assembly (2) and 117-1975 Cover Assembly (3). (See Illustration 1).
Illustration 2.
2. Slide the boots (1) up on the 117-1969 Rods (4). (See Illustration 2).
3. Disconnect the control rods (4) from the implement valves by removing 4M-6425 Bolts (5).
4. Remove 117-1972 Cover Assembly (2) and 117-1975 Cover Assembly (3).
Illustration 3.
5. Punch three 8.7 mm x 14.29 mm (.34 x .56 in) slots at the existing holes in each cover. (See Illustration 3 and Chart 2).
6. Install 117-1972 Cover Assembly (2) and 117-1975 Cover Assembly (2) using the six existing 9X-2045 Screws (6) and six 101-2867 Washers (7). Leave the screws loose.
Illustration 4.
7. Reconnect the circle drive control rod to the two valve levers by first assembling 5B-5620 Bolt (8), three 5B-3180 Nuts (9, 13, 14), two 3F-9556 Lockwashers (10), two 117-1968 Spacers (11) and one 7H-3641 Rod End between the levers as shown.
NOTE: Lever (C) is threaded. Lever (B) has an oversized clearance hole.
8. Assemble bolt into the threaded lever until bolt is recessed into lever by dimension (G).
NOTE: Dimension (G) ... 1 mm (.04 in).
9. Hold bolt with a wrench. Tightened jam nut (14) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11.0294 ± 2.2058 lb ft).
NOTE: During step 9, be careful not to move the levers from the neutral position.
10. Finger tighten jam nut (9). Hold jam nut (9) with a wrench and tighten jam nut (13) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11.0 ± 2.2 lb ft).
11. To ensure that the levers freely return to neutral without sticking, shift the combined levers in both directions several times.
12. Reconnect remaining control rods to implement valves.
13. Move steering column to its full forward position. Adjust 117-1972 Cover Assembly (2) and 117-1975 Cover Assembly (3) to provide maximum clearance between covers and control rods when levers shifted in both directions. Tightened the six 9X-2045 Screws (6) to prevent covers from moving.
14. Move steering column to its full rearward position. Ensure there is adequate clearance between covers and control rods when levers are shifted in both directions. Adjust covers if necessary.
15. Tighten 9X-2045 Screws (6).
16. Install seven rubber boots in 117-1972 Cover Assembly and 117-1975 Cover Assembly.
