Description of Change: Removal and installation of the steering shaft is required in order to complete the appropriate steering shaft maintenance and lubrication. Removal and installation of the steering shaft, by following the steps below, is required in order to maintain proper functioning of the steering system.
Adaptable To: The new removal and installation procedure for the 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly is adaptable to first production for all machines listed by following the Steering Shaft Removal and Installation Procedure below.
Steering Shaft Removal And Installation Procedure
Removal Procedure
1. Position the steering wheel in the straight ahead position.
2. Install the pin into the steering frame lock link in order to lock the frames.

3. Remove nut (1) and bolt (2) from the lower end of 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4).

4. Remove clamp bolt (6). Remove 112-9716 Lever (5) and 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4), as a single unit, from the keyed steering shaft.
5. Remove 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4) from the machine.
Installation Procedure

1. Position the steering link assembly in place on the machine. Install 112-9716 Lever (5) and 130-5465 Steering Shaft Assembly (4) on the keyed steering shaft, leaving gap (A). Install clamp bolt (6).
NOTE: Failure to hold dimension (A) at installation will cause wandering and inconsistent steering.
2. The bottom yoke of steering shaft (4) and the shaft of 130-1246 Pilot Valve (3) must be centered, in the straight ahead position. Tighten bolt (2) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (40.4 ± 7.4 lb ft).
