Improper installation of mobile communication radios may lead to radio frequency interference with the machine's electronic control systems, and reduced radio performance.
The optimal installation location of a half-dipole antenna is the direct center of the roof of the machine's cab. Consult with the communication radio equipment supplier if the antenna type is not known.
Proximity of the cab's ROPS structure requires that antenna placement be rearward of the ROPS beam. The antenna should be located so that it is centered on the cab roof, but behind the center ROPS beam. See the following illustration for typical installation location.
Radio antenna location (2) is in the center of the cab roof as shown by dashed line (1). The antenna is located rearward of the ROPS beam (3).

The ROPS beam should not be altered in any manner during antenna installation. DO NOT drill through the ROPS structure for any reason.
