Crankcase Breathers

Usage:

Remove & Install Crankcase Breathers

NOTE: The crankcase (oil) breathers are located on No. 8 and No. 10 cylinder valve covers on the 3512 engines. The crankcase (oil) breathers are located on No. 10 and No. 12 cylinder valve covers on the 3516 engines.

1. Remove the bolts, spacers and clips that hold tube (8) to the engine.

2. Loosen clamp (6), and remove tube (8).

3. Loosen clamps (5) and (7), and remove breather assemblies (2) and (3) from the valve covers.

4. Remove the O-ring seals from the valve covers.

5. Loosen clamps (1), and remove hose (4) from the breather assemblies.

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the crankcase breathers.

6. Put hose (4) and clamps (1) in position on breather assemblies (2) and (3). Do not tighten clamps (1) at this time.

7. Put the O-ring seals in position in the grooves in the valve covers.

8. Put breather assemblies (2) and (3) in position on the valve covers, and tighten clamps (5) and (7).

9. Make sure clamp (6) is in position on hose (4).

10. Put tube (8) in position in hose (4). Install the two clips, spacers and bolts that hold tube (8) to the engine.

11. Tighten clamps (1) and (6). Tighten the clamps to a torque of 3.0 ± 0.5 N·m (27 ± 4 lb in).
