Usage:
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the rear tires and rims to remove the rear axle shafts.

1. Drain the oil from the final drive.

Do not let the thrust washer behind cover (1) fall when cover (1) is removed of the thrust washer will be damaged. |
2. Cover (1) weighs 59 kg (130 lb). Fasten tool (A) to the cover, and attach a hoist to it.
3. Remove cover (1) from the carrier. Remove the O-ring seal and the thrust washer from the carrier.
4. Remove the plate and adapter from the cover if necessary.
5. Use tool (B), and pull axle shaft (2) part way out of the machine as shown.
6. The axle shafts weighs approximately 114 kg (250 lb). Use a hoist, and remove the axle shaft from the machine.
7. Remove retaining ring (3) and adapter (4) from the axle shaft.
NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the rear axle shaft. If both axle shafts were removed, install the longer axle shaft on the left side of the machine.
8. Put axle shaft (2) in position as shown without adapter (4) on retaining ring (3). Slide the axle shaft into position in the differential with tool (B).
9. Put adapter (4) in position on the axle shaft, and install retaining ring (3) to hold it.
10. If the plate and adapter were removed from cover (1), install the plate and adapter. Tighten the bolts that hold the adapter to the cover to a torque of 125 ± 8 N·m (90 ± 6 lb ft). Tighten the bolts that hold the plate to the adapter to a torque of 34 ± 7 N·m (25 ± 5 lb ft).
11. Put a thin layer of clean grease (lubriplate) on the thrust washer to hold it in position on the cover when the cover is installed. Put the thrust washer in position on the dowels in cover (1).

12. Put the O-ring seal and cover (1) in position on the carrier, and install the washers and nuts that hold them. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft)
