PROBLEM
The spark plug wire needs to be removed and replaced on certain G3408 and G3412 gas engines. During the spark plug terminal end crimping process the wire conductor is elongated sufficiently to break. The break will no longer allow current to flow sufficiently, thus cause a misfire.AFFECTED PRODUCT

PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG WIRE
MODELS INVOLVED - CERTAIN G3408 AND G3412 GAS ENGINES
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
New spark plug wires need to be installed on the products listed below. During the spark plug terminal end crimping process the wire conductor is elongated sufficiently to break. The break will no longer allow current to flow sufficiently, thus cause a misfire. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated April 4, 2004 when scheduling this service.
