New Seal Used In Yoke Group{1165,1207}

Usage:

D8L ( 53Y ) And D9L ( 14Y ) Tractors

Description of Change: A new lip type seal is used in the yoke group on D8L and D9L Tractors. The new seal has more resistance to heat than the former seal.

When replacement of the former seal is necessary, also check the condition of the flange assembly. If there is wear (groove) on the surface of the flange assembly that makes contact with the seal, it will be necessary to install a sleeve on the flange assembly. See Special Instruction, Form SMHS6915, for the correct part numbers and procedures necessary to install a sleeve on the flange assembly.

Adaptable To: The new 5P1713 Seal is a direct replacement for the former 7B2174 Seal in the 8N198 Yoke Group. The new seal must be installed with the lip out as shown in the illustration. Install the seal so that it is 1.5 ± 0.5 mm (.060 ± .020") below the surface.
