New Shutoff Solenoid Group Used{1259}

Usage:

All 3208 Engines

Reference: Service Magazine, March 1, 1982, Page 5. The article, "New Gasket Used In Governor And Fuel Injection Pump Group," tells about the use of a new beaded gasket to keep water out of the junction between the fuel shutoff solenoid and the fuel injection pump housing.

Description of Change: New fuel shutoff solenoid groups are now used on the above engines. The new solenoid has a 6.35 mm (.250") thick mounting flange. This thicker flange will decrease the possibility of distortion in the flange area.

The former solenoid had a 4.75 mm (.187") thick flange. Reports show that it was possible for this flange to become concave. The result of this was leakage of water into the junction between the solenoid and the top of the fuel injection pump housing. The water can then cause corrosion of the solenoid plunger.

Adaptable To: The new parts are direct replacements for the former parts.
