Description of Change: A new single piece drop center (SPDC) rims are being used in the rim and tire groups. The new SPDC rims are similar in shape to an automotive rim and require a new mounting procedure. The new rims are less likely to be assembled incorrectly and reduce the possibility of early-hour leaks because there is no O-ring seal. The lock ring and flange are also eliminated.
The new SPDC rims are easily identified on the motor grader by a deep well or channel around the rim base.
Adaptable To: The new 8W8337 Rim replaces the former 2G5744 Wheel, 8W9587 Flange Assembly, 2D2565 O-Ring Seal and 2D2566 Lock Ring. The components for the former rim will continue to be serviced. Use 12 Ply Rating as maximum on Bias tires and One Star as maximum rating with radial tires.
The following tires are adaptable to the new rim (9 by 24).
