Description of Change: A new stud and nut replace the former bolt that holds down the unit injector in the fuel injection pump group.
Adaptable To: The new 150-4810 Stud and 3K-6060 Locknut are direct replacements for the former 8T-7966 Bolt in the fuel injection pump group. Use the procedure that follows to install the new stud and nut.
Installation Procedure
Location of components.
1. Use the procedures provided in the applicable Disassembly And Assembly Manual to remove the rocker arm shaft assembly.
2. Remove the two 8T-7966 Bolts that hold the 1W-0019 Clamp (3).
3. Be sure the threaded holes, from which the 8T-7966 Bolts were removed, are clean and free of engine oil. A rag or suction device may be required to remove the oil from these threaded holes.
4. Install the two 150-4810 Studs (4) in the CLEAN threaded holes. Tighten the studs to a torque of 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft). Be sure the studs are correctly tightened and NOT hydraulically locked.
5. Install 1W-0019 Clamp (3).
6. Install the 1W-2383 Washers (2) and new 3K-6060 Locknuts (1) on the new studs.
7. Use a wrench to evenly tighten the locknuts (1) just enough to seat the unit injector. Be sure to check to assure the top surface of the clamp is parallel to the top surface of the cylinder head.
8. Tighten the locknut adjacent to the rocker arm support to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft) while maintaining adequate clearance for the injector gauge on the opposite side.
9. Tighten the locknut on the opposite side to a torque of 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft).
10. Use a scale to check the dimension from the top of the clamp to the top of the cylinder head adjacent to each new stud. This dimension must be 110.0 ± 1.0 mm (4.33 ± .04 in).
11. Use the procedures provided in the applicable Disassembly And Assembly Manual to install the rocker arm shaft assembly.
