VIBRATORY DRUM Caterpillar

Drum Replacement

Usage:

A. Front Or Rear Drum Installation

------ WARNING! ------

The CB-314 compactor weighs approximately 1500 kg (3307 lb.) at the front drum, and 1691 kg (3729 lb.) at the rear drum. Raising the machine without using a properly sized hoist, or not blocking to prevent rolling could result in injury to personnel.

--------WARNING!------

NOTICE

When rolling the drum, use caution and blocking to prevent drum from rolling too far or too fast. Make certain there are no wires or hoses that could be damaged by the rolling drum.

1. Use a hoist (or other appropriate lifting device) to raise the frame. Roll the drum under the machine with pry bars.

2. Use jacks to raise or lower the frame as required so the holes in the drum support components align with the holes in the frame. If necessary, align the holes with a long pointed punch.

3. Install the shims between the shock mount spacers and the vibratory side of the frame. Secure the drum to the vibratory side of the frame using four bolts and four new elastic stop nuts.

4. Secure the drum to the propel side of the frame using six bolts and six new elastic stop nuts.

5. Lower both sides of the frame and remove jacks.

B. Front Drum Connection

1. Connect all hydraulic tubes, hydraulic hoses, and clamp assemblies removed during drum disconnection.

2. Install the water strainer inside the front frame.

3. Reconnect the water lines removed during drum disconnection.

C. Rear Drum Connection

1. Connect all hydraulic tubes, hydraulic hoses, and clamp assemblies removed during drum disconnection.

2. Install the brake support to the rear frame.

3. Secure the brake support to the brake caliper with one socket head bolt and two spacers.

4. Reconnect the brake line to the brake caliper.

D. Drum Scraper Installation

1. Check the condition of the rubber scraper pads. Replace any pad that is worn, fatigued or torn.

2. If the drum scrapers have been taken apart, reassemble them using five bolts and washers.

3. Bolt each scraper assembly to the frame using four bolts and washers. Adjust so there is 1/4" clearance between the scraper pad and the drum.
