NOTICE |
---|
Drum support components use elastic stop nuts in several places. After being disassembled, these nuts should be discarded and replaced with new parts. |
A. Drum Support Removal - Vibratory Side
1. Remove the two shock mount spacers from the shock mounts on the vibratory side of the drum.
2. Remove the vibra arm from the roller bearing housing by unscrewing four nuts as illustrated.
NOTICE |
---|
The four studs securing the vibra arms are pressed into the roller bearing housing. They do not need to be removed unless they are to be replaced. |
3. Remove the shock mounts from the vibra arms if necessary.
4. Remove the vibratory motor from the hydraulic motor mount.
B. Drum Drive Removal
The drum assembly weighs approximately 698 kg (1550 lb). Lifting the drum without using a properly sized clamp and hoist could cause the drum to fall, causing damage to equipment or injury to personnel. |
Use caution when moving drum with hoist. Drum could spin, causing injury to personnel. Make sure area around drum is clear before lifting drum. |
1. Attach a clamp to edge of drum. Use a hoist (or other appropriate lifting device) to set drum on end with propel side of drum up.
2. Remove 12 bolts securing the drum drive assembly to the shock mounts.
Heavy component. Avoid possible injury. Do not move prior to securely attaching a proper lifting device. |
3. Attach a hoist to two holes in the drum drive mount as illustrated. Carefully lift the drum drive assembly straight out of the drum.
4. If necessary, disassemble the drum drive assembly following the steps in the next section; Drum Drive Disassembly.
C. Drum Drive Disassembly
1. Remove the propel motor from the torque hub.
2. Remove the five Budd nuts securing the torque hub and planetary mount to the drum drive mount.
3. Disconnect the torque hub lube hose from the planetary mount.
4. Remove the eight bolts securing the torque hub to the planetary mount.
