Start By:

  1. Remove the front wheel and tire.

------ WARNING! ------

When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

  1. Remove cotter pin (1) and nut (2). Install Tooling (A) and strike with a hammer to break the taper.

  2. Position steering link assembly (3) out of the way.

  3. Remove bolt (4), bolt (6), and washer (5).

  4. Remove cotter pin (7) and nut (8). Install Tooling (A) and strike with a hammer to break the taper.

  5. Position cylinder group (9) out of the way.

  6. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to wheel spindle (10). The weight of wheel spindle (10) is approximately 90 kg (198 lb).

  7. Use Tooling (C) to remove pin (11).

  8. Use Tooling (C) to remove pin (12).

  9. Remove wheel spindle (10).

  10. Remove two seals (14) and two O-ring seals (15).

  11. Remove ring (13) from pin (12), and ring (16) from pin (11).

  12. Remove thrust washers (17) and seal (18).

  13. Use Tooling (D) to remove two bearings (19).

Installation Procedure

  1. Lower the temperature of bearings (19). Use Tooling (E) to install bearings (19).

  2. Install thrust washers (17) and seal (18).

  3. Lower the temperature of pins (11) and (12).

  4. Install O-ring seals (15) and seals (14).

  5. Install wheel spindle (10).

  6. Install pins (11) and (12). Install rings (13) and (16). Pins (11) and (12) must protrude to the dimension of 2.0 ± 0.5 mm (0.08 ± 0.02 inch).

  7. Position cylinder group (9).

  8. Install nut (8) and tighten to a torque of 140 ± 14 N·m (103 ± 10 lb ft). Install cotter pin (7).

  9. Install washer (5) and bolt (4). Install bolt (6).

  10. Position steering link assembly (3).

  11. Install nut (2) and tighten to a torque of 120 N·m (89 lb ft).

End By:

  1. Install the front wheel and tire.
