Engine Enclosure (Hood) - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect harness assemblies (1) and (2). Remove grommet (4) from hood (3). Route harness assemblies (1) and (2) through hood (3).

  2. Loosen clamp (8) and disconnect hose (7).

  3. Loosen clamp (6) and remove tube assembly (5).

  4. Loosen bolt (9) and remove precleaner assembly (10).

  5. Remove two bolts (13). Remove bracket (12) and clamp (11) as an assembly.

  6. Open door panel (14). Repeat for the other side.

  7. Release harness assembly (15) from retainers (16).

  8. Remove bolt (17).

  9. Attach as suitable lifting device to hood (3). The weight of hood (3) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

  10. Remove six bolts (18) from hood (3).

  11. Remove seven bolts (19) from hood (3).

  12. Close door panel (14). Repeat for the other side.

  13. Remove eight bolts (20) and remove panel (21).

  14. Remove two bolts (22). Repeat for the other side.

  15. Remove hood (3).

  16. Open door panel (14). Attach a suitable lifting device to door panel (14). The weight of door panel (14) is approximately 18 kg (40 lb). Remove door panel (14). Repeat for the other side.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install hood (3) in the reverse order of the removal.

    1. Tighten clamp (9) to a torque of 28 ± 7 N.m (248 ± 62 lb in).

    2. Tighten clamp (6) to a torque of 65 ± 10 N.m (48 ± 7 lb ft).
