More Flexible Lockwire Used With Nylon Seals For Sealing Critical Areas
Usage:
All Engines In All Applications
Reference: Engine News, March, 1986, Page 1, "Nylon Seals Used On Lockwire To Seal Critical Areas".
Description of Change: When nylon seals were first used to seal the critical areas on engines, a three-braided lockwire was used to attach the nylon seal. Now, this wire has been replaced by a two-braided lockwire. The two-braided wire is a smaller diameter and thus is more flexible than the three-braided wire. This makes it easier to insert the seal lock inside the seal cavity.
Adaptable To: The new 8C4983 Lockwire can be used on any of the parts service seals available to NACD or other dealers. The three-braided 8S7115 Lockwire continues to be used in and serviced for other applications.
