Engine Oil Screen - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Inspect all O-rings, seals, and gaskets for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.

  1. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

  2. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

  3. Remove two bolts (1), disconnect two plugs (2), and remove box (6).

  4. Remove two bolts (3), disconnect coupling (4), and set harness and bracket (5) out of the way.

  5. Remove nut (7), two coupling nuts (8), and remove cover (9).

  6. Remove engine oil screen (10).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil screen (10) in reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten nuts (7) and (8) to a torque of 47 ± 3 N·m (35 ± 2 lb ft).
