C13, C15, and C18 Generator Set Engines Caterpillar

CID 1906 FMI 05 Intake Valve Actuator #6 Current Below Normal

Usage:

C18 AR3
Conditions Which Generate This Code:

The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects Engine Intake Valve Actuator #1 : Current Below Normal

The ECM will log the diagnostic code.

The ECM monitors the current flow through the circuit for each actuator. If low current flow (open-circuit) is detected, a 5 diagnostic code is activated. The ECM continues to try to activate the actuator.

The ECM takes the following actions while the code is active:

  • The ECM will derate the engine power by 10 percent.

  • The amber warning lamp is illuminated.

Test Step 1. Perform the following diagnostic procedure: "Variable Valve Actuator - Test"

Results:

  • OK - STOP
