Rocker Shaft and Pushrod - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Disconnect the engine oil line. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Line - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure .

  2. Remove the fuel injector. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injector - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

  3. Remove the turbocharger oil feed pipe. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove" for the correct procedure.

  4. Remove the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Disconnect the wiring harness from oil pressure switch (7).

  2. Disconnect breather hose (8) and breather hose (9).

  3. Loosen the nuts and adjustment screws (3) on all rocker arms.

  4. Remove bolts (1) and nuts (4) from rocker shaft assembly (2). Remove nut (5) from rocker shaft assembly.

  5. Remove rocker shaft assembly (2) from the cylinder head.

  6. Place temporary identification marks on caps (7) and pushrods (6).

    Note: Identification will ensure that the pushrods and the caps can be reinstalled in the original positions. Do not interchange the positions of used pushrods or caps.

  7. Remove pushrods (6) from the cylinder head.

  8. Remove caps (7) from the valve stems.

  9. Remove seal (8) from the base of rocker shaft assembly (2).
