Inspection of cable integrity during start-up and commissioning, and periodically thereafter, during operational life of generator set is a requirement to insure safe and reliable operation. A New Special Instruction is now available to provide direction on inspecting, insulating, and repairing the stator lead cables used on certain products that are listed above.

For inspection instructions, and recommendations on how to implement provisions to protect from abrasion, using 416-1646 Tape around the stator lead cable, and/or by replacing cable supports, refer to above mentioned Special Instruction.

If the stator lead cable is damaged, refer to above mentioned Special Instruction for repairing the stator lead cable with 475-0266 Repair Kit, or if damage is too severe, replace the stator lead cable.

The special instruction can be found on the Caterpillar service information system (SIS) and through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat dealer.
