Turbocharger - Remove and Install
Start By:
- Remove the air cleaner.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Mark the tube and the coupler on both sides of clamps (2) for reinstallation purposes. Loosen clamps (2). Remove bolts (1).

Illustration 14 g03686007 - Attach a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (23). The weight of turbocharger (23) is approximately
98 kg (216 lb) . - Mark the housing of turbocharger (23) and the flange of the exhaust elbow for orientation. Remove bolts (24) and remove turbocharger (23).
- Repeat Step 4 to Step 11 for the other turbocharger.

- Install turbocharger (23) in the reverse order of removal.
- Tighten clamps (2) alternately beginning with the larger diameter end to a torque of
58 ± 12 N·m (43 ± 9 lb ft) .
