Introduction
In order to achieve proper shunt line pressure in balance with engine venting, only certain water pump inlet connection ports should be used. Alternatively, shunt lines may also be connected to the pipe that carries coolant from the radiator to the engine water pump inlet or to the radiator bottom tank.
The diagrams below show the proper connection port.

Testing
A new test procedure (Air Entrainment Test) is available to evaluate proper operation of the shunt tank and lines. This test procedure will determine if the cooling system shunt and vent flows are properly balanced.
For the test procedure, Refer to Application and Installation, LEBH0003 and Application and Installation, LEBH0012.
