There have been a number of isolated instances of issues with the 335-5735 Flow Control Valve Solenoid on certain C3.4 engines. The issue is external water ingress into the electrical components of the Flow Control Valve Solenoid .
If the engine fails to start, replace the 335-5735 Flow Control Valve Solenoid with 435-1704 Flow Control Valve Solenoid .
- Follow Step 1.a through Step 1.d in order to remove the existing 335-5735 Flow Control Valve Solenoid .
- Clean fuel injection pump (1) and the area around the fuel injection pump. Ensure that the area is free from contamination before beginning disassembly.
- Place a suitable container below fuel injection pump (1) in order to catch any fuel that might be spilled.
- Disconnect the harness assembly (not shown) from Flow Control Valve (FCV) solenoid (2) .
- Remove the FCV solenoid from the fuel injection pump.
NOTICE |
---|
Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorized personnel that have the correct training. Before beginning ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines" for safety information. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system. |
- In order to install the new 435-1704 Flow Control Valve Solenoid follow Step 2.a through Step 2.c.
- Install the new FCV solenoid (2) to fuel injection pump (1) .
- Tighten the FCV solenoid to a torque of 22 N·m (195 lb in).
- Connect the harness assembly (not shown) to the FCV solenoid.
