794 AC Off-Highway Truck Caterpillar

Fuel System - Fill - Fast Fill Fuel Adapter

Usage:

794 AC HRT

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

NOTICE

Use only a Caterpillar approved fast fill system to fuel machines. Over pressurization may cause tank deformation and fuel spillage.

Contact your Cat dealer for fast fill system availability.

NOTICE

Malfunctioning and/or inadequate fuel tank venting will elevate the internal pressure of the fuel tank. Elevated internal tank pressure will likely cause premature shutdown of pressurized/pressure acting fast fill systems, resulting in fuel tank under filling. Elevated internal tank pressure can also structurally damage the fuel tank. Do not attempt to top off fuel tanks after the flow has shut down. If you are experiencing under filling, make sure that the vent is unrestricted and capable of supporting the desired flow rate. If necessary, fitting the fuel tank with an additional vent of the same type is sufficient in most higher flow applications.

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the fuel tank capacity of your machine.

  1. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

  2. Remove dust cover (1) and clean the fast fill fuel adapter.

  3. Fill the fuel tank through the fast fill fuel adapter.

  4. A fuel level indicator is located in the fuel tank that sends data to a fuel gauge on the filler. Observe the fuel gauge to prevent overfilling.

  5. Clean the fast fill fuel adapter and the dust cover. Install the dust cover on the adapter. Close the access cover.
