The 7X1700 Electronic Tool Group has been upgraded to support Flash Memory downloading to the ECM (Electronic Control Modules) on the 3176B and 3406E Engines.
To have a functioning communication adapter, you should order the following material:
- 7X1700 Electronic Tool Group and Cables as needed through Morton Parts System. NEXG4523 SPM, through Caterpillar Literature System
- 7X1412 Cable Assembly ATA (RS-485) Control to 7X1700
- 7X1570 Cable Assembly -Cat Data Link Control to 7X1700
- 7X1414 Cable Assembly -SI 10 pin CSA control to 7X1570
- 7X1415 Cable Assembly -SI 4 pin CSA control to 7X1570
- 7X1420 Cable Assembly -7X1700 to ATA (RS-485) Service Tool
- 7X1688 Cable Gr. -7X1700 to RS 232 Service Tool
- 7X1412 Cable Assembly ATA (RS-485) Control to 7X1700
Having the software available separately in an SPM assures that it will always be the most current, up to date software available. It also allows owners of the 7X1700 Electronic Tool Group to upgrade their tool to the latest capabilities.
The release of NEXG4523, V1.1 adds support of Flash Memory downloading of the ECM on 3176B and 3406E Electronic Engines to the original communications functions. If you already have a 7X1700 Electronic Tool Group, Flash Memory downloading can be added by ordering NEXG4523 through the Caterpillar Literature System.
