Manifold Pressure Variation At Full Load/Constant Speed

Usage:

3406B/C (8TC, 5YG, 4CK, 2EK)

There have been several perceived power complaints as a result of the electronic engine strategy that produces boost and noise changes which drivers foresee as a power problem, when in fact it is not.

Drivers may see a variation in boost when operating electronic engines. This should not be confused with the loss of power. Many drivers relate boost to power, therefore assuming when boost is low, so is power.

This may be a good indicator when operating mechanical engines, but not necessarily with electronic engines due to the electronic control strategy. This change in boost can be best seen at full load at constant speed. The boost pressure may vary three to five psi with everything else being constant.
