Introduction

A cold climate kit for the C4.4 engine has been introduced.

Required Parts

Type 1 cold climate kit contains the parts that are listed in table 1.

Table 1
Required Parts
Part Number  Description  Qty
359-7588  Pipe - Breather
372-5869  Filter - Breather
397-1556  Pipe - Breather
6I-0291  Nut
316-9351  Mount - Fir Tree

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the existing crankcase breather. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Breather - Remove" for the correct procedure. Remove any fir trees for the cable ties. Do not remove the valve from the cylinder block. Retain the bolts that secure the crankcase breather to the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure

    Typical example

  1. Position new breather canister (1) onto the cylinder head and install bolts (2). Tighten the bolts (2) to a torque of 22 N·m (195 lb in).

  2. Ensure that plastic tube assemblies (3), and (4) are clean and free from restriction.

  3. Connect plastic tube assembly (5) to the drain on the breather canister (1). Ensure that the plastic tube assembly is locked into place.

  4. Connect plastic tube assembly (3) to breather canister (1). Ensure that plastic tube assembly (3) is correctly locked into the inlet of the crankcase breather canister (1).

  5. Ensure plastic tube assembly (3) is correctly secured with the fir trees for the cable ties in the correct threaded holes. Use the most suitable route on the engine. Ensure that there are no dips or restrictions on the plastic tube assembly. The upper clipping point is to be kept clear.

  6. Connect plastic tube assembly (4) to breather canister (1). Ensure that plastic tube assembly (4) is correctly locked into the inlet of the crankcase breather canister (1) and the valve mechanism cover.

  7. Ensure that plastic tube assembly (4) is correctly secured with the fir trees for the cable ties in the correct plain or threaded holes.
