Truck Engine News SEBD6880, May 2013, "Replacement of the Variable Valve Actuator Assembly at Overhaul Is Recommended on Certain On-Highway Truck Engines". Disregard this article. See the article that follows. The wording in the first paragraph has been modified.

The Variable Valve Actuator (VVA) assembly should be replaced when the engine is being overhauled. Replacing the VVA assembly eliminates soot buildup and reduces wear on internal components. In order to be covered under the Overhaul Protection for Truck (OPT) or ACERTIFY, the VVA assembly must be replaced. Inspection of the VVA assembly will no longer qualify for coverage under both programs. Effective date for this change to OPT and ACERTIFY is 1July 2013.
