With continuing emphasis on improving Tier 4 engine reliability and customer satisfaction, Caterpillar is expanding the scope of the Electronic Control Module (ECM) Hotline. The Hotline is available to all North American Commercial Division(NACD) Cat dealers 11 hours a day, 5 days a week. The Hotline will:

  • offer technical assistance

  • offer troubleshooting tips

  • issue an ECM Authorization Number

  • offer document details of suggested actions

Parts Return Requests will be issued for every warranty claim against a Tier 4 ECM part number. ECMs returned to Caterpillar without following documented troubleshooting steps, that test "Good", may result in a full warranty claim denial. The ECM Hotline is not intended to replace normal troubleshooting procedures. Follow the troubleshooting guides and involve your Technical Communicator when necessary. If more troubleshooting advice is needed, or if the dealer is at the point of replacing the ECM, call the ECM Hotline! Dealers can start using the ECM Hotline effectively immediately for a Tier 4 product.

The Hotline is a toll free number: (877) 598-8920
