- Generator Set:
- C175-16 (S/N: WYB146-UP)
Description of Change: The previous covers used a gasket sealant. The new covers use O-rings seals that provide a better seal.
Adaptable To: The new 340-6965 Flywheel Housing Cover Gp replaces the 249-3999 Flywheel Housing Cover Gp in C175-16 Generator Set Engines. The 249-3999 Flywheel Housing Cover Gp is not canceled.
The new 340-6965 Flywheel Housing Cover Gp includes a new 322-2776 Cover and a new 322-2777 Cover. Each of the new covers uses one 2R-0239 O-Ring Seal .
The new 340-6965 Flywheel Housing Cover Gp is adaptable to C175-16 Generator Set Engines back to (S/N: WYB146-UP). The generator sets with lower serial numbers do not have enough material on the flywheel housings to accept the covers with the O-ring seals.
The new cover group is effective with engines built beginning 1July 2011.

- Remove cover (4) and the engine speed/timing sensors as a unit from the top surface of the flywheel housing.
- Clean the old gasket sealant from the top of the flywheel housing.
- Move the engine speed/timing sensors from the old cover to the new cover.
Torque for the engine speed/timing sensors ... 28 ± 7 N·m (21 ± 5 lb ft)
- Use grease to keep the 2R-0239 O-Ring Seal in place under the new cover. Install the cover and the engine speed/timing sensors as a unit onto the flywheel housing.
Standard torque for the cover bolts ... 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft)
- Reconnect the wires for the engine speed/timing sensors. Install the heat shield.
- Remove cover (5) from the face of the flywheel housing.
- Clean the old gasket sealant from the face of the flywheel housing.
- Use grease to keep the 2R-0239 O-Ring Seal in place under the new cover. Install the cover onto the flywheel housing.
