- 选择一个可以接近的排气摇臂。 排气摇臂可以处于任何气缸上。
- 使用工具 (A) 旋转曲轴，直到选定排气门的推杆端达到最大高度。 这表示液压挺杆坐在凸轮轴凸轮的基圆上。
- 安装工具 (B) ，使指针接触到推杆上方排气摇臂 (1) 的顶面。

- 使用工具 (A) 旋转曲轴，直到液压挺杆开始打开排气门。 继续旋转曲轴，直到指示器的指针移动 2.8 mm (0.11 in)。
注: 这是 60 度的安全位置。 视液压挺杆是否回降，精确的位置可能有所不同。 随着液压挺杆继续回降，千分表上的读数可能减少。 达到 2.8 mm (0.11 in) 的值后，曲轴处于安全位置。
注: 发动机处于安全位置后，在减振器和前壳体上做临时标记。
