Failures of the 239-8475 Tube Assembly or the 239-8477 Tube Assembly on C7 Marine Engines{1355, 1380, 1393} Caterpillar

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The 239-8475 Tube Assembly and the 239-8477 Tube Assembly have been cracking and causing coolant leaks.

Solution

Replace a cracked tube assembly with a hose assembly that is constructed of the following:

• 124-2111 Permanent Coupling

• 124-2140 Permanent Coupling

• 166-6137 Hose

Note: The new hose must have at least 10 mm (0.40 inch) of clearance from any other engine components.

Refer to Illustration 1 for the layout of the new parts as well as the specification for the length of the assembled hose.
