C13 and C15 Engines for Combat and Tactical Vehicles Caterpillar

The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:

• The battery voltage to the ECM fell below 6 VDC and returned above 9 VDC three times within seven seconds.

• The engine is running.

System Response:

The ECM will use a default torque map. The check engine lamp will illuminate.

Possible Performance Effect:

The engine will be derated.

Troubleshooting:

This diagnostic code could indicate a faulty charging system or poor battery connections.

Test Step 1. Perform the following diagnostic procedure: "Ignition Keyswitch Circuit and Battery Supply Circuit - Test"
