Description Of Change: General Duty Track now replaces Hybrid Track and Enhanced Sealed and Lubricated Track (ESALT) as the Parts-Service offering on certain 973 Track-Type loaders and D7 Track-Type Tractors built with SALT, ESALT, or Hybrid Track. This change does not apply to 973D and 973K Track-Type Loaders built with Heavy-Duty Track (See IRM PELJ 1968).
General Duty Track has the same geometry as Hybrid Track. It is compatible with Genuine, Classic or General Duty rollers, idlers, and sprockets. Refer to IRM PELJ2063 for a complete list of D7 and 973 General Duty Undercarriage components.
The General Duty link assemblies have the same 7/8” bolt size and pattern as Hybrid track with 7/8” bolt size and bolt pattern. This allows for shoes with 7/8” bolts to be transferred to the new link assemblies (use Table 1 as reference). However, some older D7 and 973 Hybrid track shoes with ¾” bolts cannot be reused (use Table 2 as reference).

Repair Parts Information
Use the General Duty piece parts in Table 4 for field repairs of Hybrid track. Once inventory is exhausted, the links with 3/4" bolt will no longer be serviced, and they are replaced with General Duty link assemblies with 7/8" bolt.

Choose correct length of new General Duty link assembly with 7/8" bolt (refer to Table 1). New shoes and hardware are also required. Use Hybrid Track Shoes with 7/8" bolts for these General Duty link assemblies (refer to Table 3). |
- Tighten 7H-3599 Standard Track Bolt 7/8" to a torque of 340 N·m (250 lb ft) and plus an extra 1/3 turn.
- Tighten 9W-9058 Master Track Bolt 7/8" to a torque of 340 N·m (250 lb ft) and plus an extra 1/2 turn.
- Track press tooling for General Duty track is the same as Hybrid track.
