Fuel Filter Housing - Remove

Removal Procedure


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

  2. Remove plug (1) from housing bottom (2).

  3. Repeat Step 2 for the remaining fuel filter housings.

  4. Disconnect sensor (3), sensor (4), and sensor (8).

  5. Disconnect line (5), line (6), line (7), and line (9).

    Note: Use appropriate caps and plugs on fuel fittings to prevent contamination.

  6. Remove fuel filter housing (2).

    Note: Use the hex on the bottom of fuel filter housing (2).

  7. Attach a suitable lifting device to fuel filter base assembly (11). The weight of the fuel filter base assembly (11) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

    Note: Route the lifting device between the air intake manifold and the engine block for ease of removal.

  8. Remove bolts (10)

  9. Remove fuel filter base assembly (11).
