Flywheel Lubrication Oil Pressure - Test - Flywheel Housing Lubrication

Usage:

D8T AW4

------ WARNING! ------

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system on this machine after the engine and pump have been stopped. Serious injury can result if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic systems. In order to prevent possible injury, release the hydraulic system pressure before working on any fitting, hose, or hydraulic component.

Lower all attachments to the ground before service is started. If the hydraulic system must be serviced, tested, or adjusted with the attachment in the raised position, the attachments and lift cylinders must be supported properly.

Always move the machine to a location away from the travel of other machines. Be sure that other personnel are not near the machine when the engine is running and tests or adjustments are being made.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Introduction

The following test will determine whether the pressure of the flywheel lubrication oil is within the specified limits. This oil is delivered to the torque divider from the priority valve. This oil is then distributed to the flywheel.

Test Preparation

  1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location.

  2. Lower all the implements.

  3. Stop the engine.

  4. Turn the key to the ON position. Make sure that the implement lockout switch is turned to the UNLOCKED position.

Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU9417, System Pressure Release for correct procedure to release any pressure.

  6. Attach tooling (T1) to pressure tap (R).

Test Procedure

  1. Start the engine. Warm the power train oil to a temperature of 84° ± 8°C (183° ± 14°F).

  2. Make sure that the steering control lever is in the NEUTRAL position. Operate the engine at LOW IDLE.

  3. Check the pressure at tooling (T1). The pressure at tooling (T1) should be 215 ± 35 kPa (31 ± 5 psi).

  4. Make sure that the steering control lever is in the NEUTRAL position. Operate the engine at HIGH IDLE.

  5. Check the pressure at tooling (T1). The pressure at tooling (T1) should be 360 ± 45 kPa (52 ± 7 psi) for non EU sound models and 340 ± 45 kPa (49 ± 7 psi) for EU sound models.
