Electronic Control (Dust Suppression System)

Usage:

MD6250 DN7

Electronic Control Module (ECM)

Illustration 1g06411309
(1) J1 Connector
(2) J2 Connector

The ECM bases decisions on input information and memory information. After the ECM receives the input and outputs of the ECM are connected to the machine harness by two 70-pin connectors (1) and (2). The inputs and outputs to the ECM can be viewed through the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).

Note: Only the complete ECM is serviceable (no lower-level components). The ECM must be replaced if the ECM is damaged. Replace the ECM if a failure is diagnosed.

Dust Curtain Proximity Switch

Illustration 2g06285889
(1) Proximity Switch

The front and rear dust curtains are controlled by the Drill and Travel buttons on the right keypad. When in travel mode, the dust curtains will automatically raise, and will lower while in drill mode. The dust curtains can also be manually raised. The position of the curtains is determined by the dust curtain proximity switch (1) on the rear dust curtain lifter.

Dust Collector

(3) Directional valve
(4) Flushing valves
(5) Air valves

Note: Only two control valves are shown. Machine is equipped with four valves total.

Air is supplied to the air manifold which supplies the electronic directional valves (3). The machine ECM sends a signal to the directional valves which diverts air to one end of the air cylinder. The signal extends and retracts the air cylinder which opens and closes the air valves (5). The air valves open drawing clean air into the suction side of the dust collector filter. This short burst of air dislodges dust particles from the dust collector filter. Only one filter is flushed at a time.
