Note: Not pictured are the dust seal, pipe seal, and optional top deck water tank.
The dust suppression system could include any combination of the following:
- Dust curtains
- Deck seal
- Dust collector
- Water injection

(3) Dust curtains |
The under deck area is fully enclosed by replaceable dust curtains (3). The dust curtains require trimming to a length that will provide the best sealing capabilities based on the type of terrain. For example, if the terrain is generally level, the curtains can be trimmed to a common length all round. If the terrain is sloping, then the curtains will need to be trimmed longer or shorter at a particular end to maximize sealing. Trim the length of the dust curtains to approximately

(2) Dust Collector |
The dust collector system consists of a pre-cleaner that separates the large particles. The dust collector is connected by a hose to an outlet of the enclosure formed by the dust curtains. The dry filter dust collector uses a series of filters and retention rod elements to entrap and dump the dust into the bottom of the unit to be funneled to the outside. A compressed air filter-cleaning system automatically blows reverse flow air through the filters during operation. The compressed air system is controlled using a timer box and manifold system. Auxiliary compressed air is routed through manifolds to each filter in an endless sequence. The sequence is controlled by the timer box which operates the control valves at the individual filters.

(1) Water injection pump |
Water is injected into the main air stream to control dust from the drilling operation. The water injection system consists of an under deck water tank and a hydraulically driven water pump (1) that injects water into the main air system. The water pump is controlled by the machine ECM. The machine ECM controls the current to the control valve that controls the flow to the water pump. As flow is increased to the water pump, water injection flow is also increased. The water injection pump provides water from the tank at a flow rate controlled by a toggle switch on the right joystick, along with the machine ECM, that controls flow to the valve driving the pump. The water is directed to an air control valve which meters the water into the air stream at the main air header.

If Equipped (5) Top deck water tank |
An above deck water tank (5) is also available. This tank gets connected to the below deck tank to increase the maximum water capacity of the machine.

(6) Deck seal |
The deck seal (6) forms a seal between the deck bushing and the drill pipe. The deck seal requires regular inspection and maintenance to prolong the life of the deck bushing and minimize build up of cuttings from the drill deck.

(7) Pipe seal |
The pipe seal (7) is located on the bottom side of the drill at the base of the mast. This seal prevents dust and cuttings from ejecting upward through the deck bushing to the drilling platform. The pipe seal has been designed to be a cassette type to allow for easier removal and replacement. Because of constant exposure to dust and cuttings the pipe seal requires regular inspection.
