Introduction

The following procedure is for checking and setting the air gap of the three seat proximity sensors.

Required Tools

Table 2
Required Tools
Tool  Part
T1  Loctite® 243

Test Preparation

  1. Position and lock the seat in the (0 degree) FORWARD position.

  2. Remove seat to gain access to the sensors by removing four bolts (1).

Test Procedure

    Illustration 2g06217504

  1. With the seat locked in the FORWARD position, measure air gap (D1) between lock arm (2) and sensor (3).

  2. Measure air gap (D1) between sensor (4) and ring (5).

  3. UNLOCK and rotate upper seat base to the (100 degree) REARWARD position.

    Illustration 3g06217548

  4. With the seat locked in the REARWARD position, measure air gap (D1) between lock arm (2) and sensor (3).

  5. Measure air gap (D1) between ring (5) and sensor (6).

If air gap (D1) is at the specified measurement listed in Table 1, adjustment of the sensor will be necessary. Refer to the "Adjustment Procedure" section.

Adjustment Procedure

    Illustration 4g06217584

  1. To adjust air gap (D1) of a sensor, loosen bolts (7).

  2. Slide the sensor plate in the bolt slots to the desired position.

  3. Apply Loctite® 243 to the threads of bolts (7).

  4. Tighten bolts (7).

  5. Recheck air gap (D1) after bolts (7) are tightened.
