Repair of the Oil Filler Tube {1316}

Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you read this information and you understand this information.

The following repair procedure pertains to the oil filler tubes on the engines that are listed above .

Notice

Do not allow debris that results from the repair procedure to fall into the oil filler tube.

Required Parts

Table 1
Amount     Required Parts    
2     #6 Sheet metal screws 3/8 inch in length    
1     Drill bit 7/64 inch in diameter    
1     Half round hand file    
1 tube     4C-9614 Silicone Sealant    

Refer to Table 1 for the parts that are required to complete the repair.

Repair Procedure

(5) Oil filler tube

  1. Locate two holes that are separated by 120 degrees to 180 degrees but not within 60 degrees of the notch (3) .

  1. Mark the two locations after measuring from the top edge of the casting down 9/16 ± 1/16 inch (A) .

  1. Drill two 7/64 inch holes through the oil filler tube (5) and the nylon insert (2) at the marked locations.

  1. Screw in the #6 sheet metal screws (1). Apply 4C-9614 Silicone Sealant before tightening the screws.

  1. Remove the screw tips with the hand file so that the internal surface is flush.

  1. Apply 4C-9614 Silicone Sealant in order to seal the area (4) between the nylon insert (2) and the oil filler tube (5) .
