Description of Change: Two new rear crankshaft seal groups are standard equipment on the above machines. A double lip seal group is used on machines with three speed forward/three speed reverse, power shift transmission applications.
The second seal group, which is used in the three speed forward/one speed reverse power shift and direct drive transmissions, has a different design and is made from a different material. This seal has hydrodynamic grooves, which return lubrication oil to the engine crankcase as the crankshaft rotates.
Both seal groups reduce the transfer of oil from the transmission to the engine on wet flywheel applications.
Adaptable To: The new 7W3202 Crankshaft Seal Group (double lip) replaces the former 1W36 Seal Group in the three speed forward/three speed reverse transmissions. The 7W3200 Crankshaft Seal Group replaces the 1W36 Seal Group in the three speed forward/one speed reverse and the direct drive transmissions. The following chart shows the model usage and effective PIN's for the two new seal groups.
For service replacement, the new 7W3202 Seal Group (double lip) may be used in all 3204 wet flywheel housing applications, if desired. The 7W3200 Seal Group with hydrodynamic grooves should always be used in dry flywheel applications.
The procedure for installation of the two new seal groups is given in the Special Instruction SMHS7100-02, "Installation Of Crankshaft Seals And Wear Sleeves", which is included with each seal group. These two seal groups use different installation tools.
