Torque Limiter (Drive Shaft) - Remove and Install - Tractor

Usage:

631K WT4

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the tractor drive shaft.

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (1). Disconnect the tube assembly and elbow (2) as a unit.

  2. Disconnect hose assemblies (3). Loosen the clamps and disconnect hose (4). Reposition hose (4).

  3. Use two people to remove torque limiter housing assembly (8). The weight of torque limiter housing assembly (8) is approximately 49 kg (108 lb).

  4. Remove bolts (6), the washers, and the spacers. Remove remaining bolts (5) and the washers.

  5. Remove nut (7) and the washer. Remove torque limiter housing assembly (8).

  6. Remove O-ring seal (12), bolts (9), washers (10), and retainer (11) from torque limiter housing (8).

  7. Remove spider (13), retaining ring (14), bearing (15), and spacer (16).

  8. Remove bolts (18), washers (19), and housing (17).

  9. Remove O-ring seal (20), seal (21), shaft (22), bearing (24), and inner bearing race (23).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  10. Remove bolts (25) and washers (26) evenly until spring tension is released.

  11. Remove retainer (27) and spring disc (28).

  12. Remove plate (29).

  13. Remove discs (31) and friction discs (30).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the torque limiter in the reverse order of removal.

    Note: Lubricate O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

    Note: Soak friction discs (30) into transmission oil for an hour prior to assembly.

      Note: It is possible to install plate (29) backwards, which will damage the group. Install plate (29) in a way that the shoulder of the inner diameter of plate (29) locates spring disc (28) onto it.

    1. Install plate (29) and ensure proper orientation of plate (29).

      Note: Ensure that the friction discs, the plate, and the spring disc are maintained in the center as best as possible during assembly.

    2. Tighten bolts (25) to a torque of 56 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft).

    3. Lubricate bore and seal (21) with the lubricant that is being sealed. Install seal (21) and ensure the open side of seal (21) faces rearward, away from the engine. Refer Illustration 14 for the orientation of seal (21).
