Final Drive, Steering Planetary, and Brake (Right Side) - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Separate the track.
  2. Remove the axle.

  1. Drain the oil from the final drive. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil - Change"for the correct draining and filling procedure.

  1. Adjust the top bracket of Tooling (A) until Dimension (X) is 76 mm (3.0 inch). Install the lower plate of Tooling (A) without the spacers.

  1. Remove two bolts (1) and install Tooling (A). Install a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). The weight of the final drive, planetary assembly, and brake is approximately 590 kg (1300 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (2) that hold the final drive, the planetary assembly, and the brake to the machine.

    Note: Do not remove bolts (3) that hold the final drive, the planetary assembly, and the brake together.

  1. Remove bolts (4) that hold the planetary assembly and the brake to the machine.

  1. Remove final drive (6). Remove planetary assembly and brake (7) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (5) and (8) from planetary assembly and brake (7) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install planetary assembly and brake (7) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 800 ± 90 N·m (590 ± 66 lb ft).

    1. Lubricate two new sprocket segment bolts (1) with SAE 30 oil. Install new sprocket segment bolts (1) .

    1. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 175 ± 40 N·m (130 ± 30 lb ft). Tighten bolts (1) for another 1/3 turn. The final torque for the bolt (1) must be a minimum of 380 N·m (280 lb ft).
