Tightening Procedure for the Studs of the Variable Valve Actuator for 735 and 740 Articulated Trucks and C15 On-highway Truck Engine{1130}

Usage:

735 B1N
Articulated Truck:
735 (S/N: B1N1-UP)
740 (S/N: B1P1-UP)
740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R1-UP)
On-highway Truck Engine:
C15 (S/N: MXS1-UP; SDP1-UP; B5R1-UP; NXS1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

There are two different studs that are available for the variable valve actuator in the above listed machines and engines. Both studs should follow the solution that is identified below.

Solution

When 233-3672 Studs are installed or when 288-4109 Studs are installed ensure that the studs are tightened to 50 N·m (37 lb ft). Tighten the studs to an additional 45°.
