VR6 Voltage Regulator Caterpillar


Voltage Regulator - Replace

Usage:

3412C 4BZ

  • Install the voltage regulator. Refer to the installation instructions. See the Testing and Adjusting, "Wiring Diagrams".

  • Start the engine.

  • Run the engine at rated engine RPM and at no load.

  • Turn the knee frequency adjustment counterclockwise (CCW).

  • Adjust the voltage level. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Voltage - Adjust".

  • Adjust the knee frequency. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Knee Frequency - Adjust".

  • Adjust stability. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Stability - Adjust".

  • Return the genset to normal operation.

  • Add load to the genset.

  • Slightly reduce the frequency of the genset. Generator voltage should decrease proportionally with the frequency. Otherwise, readjust the knee frequency again.

  • Increase the frequency to the rated frequency.
