Start By:

  1. Remove the hydraulic tank.

  2. Remove the right-hand implement piston pumps and fan cooling pump as one.

  3. Remove the center fan piston pump and the brake and axle oil cooling pump as one.

  4. Remove the left-hand steering piston pump and implement piston pump as one.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (1) and hose assemblies (3). Disconnect harness assembly (4). Remove bolts (2).

  2. Attach a suitable lifting device to grease tank (6). The combined weight of grease tank (6) and platform assembly (5) is approximately 109 kg (240 lb). Remove the bolts and remove grease tank (6) and platform assembly (5) as one.

  3. Remove platform assembly (7).

  4. Disconnect test port brackets (8) from the platform. Move test port brackets (8) out of the way. Remove bolts (9).

  5. Disconnect harness assembly (11). Disconnect clip (10) from the machine. Remove four bolts (12). Set the bracket and filter (13) out of the way.

  6. Disconnect test port bracket (14) from the rail and set test port bracket (14) out of the way.

  7. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to door assembly (15). The combined weight of the framework and door assembly (15) is approximately 104 kg (230 lb).

  8. Remove bolts (16). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

  9. Remove bolts (17). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

    Note: Bolt (18) is located above the rear left wheel.

  10. Remove bolt (18)

  11. Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove door assembly (15) and the framework as one.

  12. Disconnect harness assembly (19) and unclip harness assembly (19) from the frame.

  13. Disconnect hose assemblies (20) and move hose assemblies (20) out of the way.

  14. Disconnect hose assemblies (21).

  17. Disconnect hose assemblies (24). Remove elbow assembly (25). Disconnect hose assembly (26).

  18. Remove clips (27). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

  19. Disconnect hose assemblies (29).

  20. Remove clip (28).

  21. Remove bolts (30). Remove upper cap (31). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

  22. Place a suitable bar across the hydraulic tank mounts. Attach Tooling (B) to the suitable bar and to engine (32). The weight of the rear of engine (32) is approximately 2268 kg (5000 lb).

  23. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (33). The weight of torque converter (33) is approximately 1379 kg (3040 lb).

  24. Disconnect clip (34).

  25. Remove bolts (35).

  26. Use a suitable Come-along (X) in order to hold back the hose assemblies. Use Tooling (C) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove torque converter (33).
