Use Correct Compression Seal Washer (Gas Seal) On 7000 Series Fuel Injection Nozzles{1254,1250}

Usage:

3200, 3300, And 3400 Families Of Direct Injection Engines

Reference: Service Magazine, April 1, 1985, Page 4, "New Compression Washers (Gas Seals) Used On 7000 Series Fuel Injection Nozzles".

Description of Change: The Caterpillar 7000 Series Fuel Injection Nozzle is used on many of the above direct injection engines. This nozzle is identified as the 7000 Series because the last four digits of the part number begin with the number 7.

Most of the compression seal washers used on these nozzles have now been changed to a copper material. The former compression seal washers, made from nylon, could lose a small amount of thickness because of installation force and operating temperatures. The copper compression seal washers provide a more consistent holding force. The following chart has been updated to add new compression seal washers and provide seal identification for each fuel nozzle and engine application. The compression seal washer, the carbon dam (seal), and the bleed screw seal washer should be replaced each time the nozzle is tested.
