盘车起动时电子控制模块（ECM）会自动喷射乙醚。 在满足以下情况时，ECM 会自动向进气歧管喷射乙醚：
- 乙醚控制参数编程设定为"启用"。
- 发动机转速在 0 rpm 与 1200 rpm 之间。
- 水套水冷却液温度或进气歧管温度传感器低于设定值。
乙醚喷射的持续时间随冷却液温度而变化。
对于故障诊断和排除，技术人员可使用一个超越来驱动乙醚系统。 使用 Caterpillar 电子技师（ET）可启动和停止乙醚喷射。
