5N563 Self-Excited SR4 Generators Use Different Type Regulator And A Power Autotransformer{4450}

Usage:

3508, 3512, 3516 Generator Set Engines Equipped With Self-Excited 689 Frame Generators

Description of Change: The regulator, T2 power autotransformer and wiring diagram used on 5N563 SR4 Generators (self-excited 689 frame generators) are different from those used on other SR4 Generators.

Adaptable To: A 4W3881 Transformer Assembly (T2 power autotransformer) is used on both generators. The location of the T2 power autotransformer as viewed from the left side of the generator is shown in Illustration 1.

Illustration 1. Location of 4W3881 Transformer Assembly (T2 power autotransformer), A1 Module Assembly, and A4 Module Assembly.

The 480 volt 5N563 Generator uses a 4W3879 Regulator Assembly. The A4 Module used in the 4W3879 Regulator Assembly is a 4W185 Module Assembly. The 4W3879 Regulator Assembly is the same as a 4W5271 Regulator with the addition of the appropriate A4 Module. Chart A summarizes these differences.

The individual parts that make up the regulator assembly are shown in Illustration 2 and identified in Chart B.

The wiring diagram shown in Illustration 3 is the same for both generators except for wire number 26.
